Most travellers stay at Killington for access to the nationally-recognised Killington Ski Resort, which has a maximum vertical drop of 930 metres. This has earned it the nickname “Beast of the East”, which is matched by over 150 groomed trails for beginner, intermediate and advanced skiers and snowboarders. You can also take on a terrain park with over 65 features, including a halfpipe and planet-style jibs.
If you’re visiting Killington during the summer, hiking is usually at the top of the must-do list, especially the trails at Killington Peak. Rising 1,291 metres tall, Killington Peak offers a rewarding challenge that treats you to spectacular countryside vistas at the top. Don’t forget about the picturesque Sherburne Pass, which runs between Pico Peak and Deer Leap Mountain.
Looking for some tranquil river scenery? Killington is home to a number of riverside walking trails, such as the Thundering Brook Falls Trail, which leads to a cascading waterfall. You can also trek along the Appalachian Trail to Kent Pond, a scenic waterside picnic spot that’s fed by the Kent Brook.
Keen golfers should tee off at Green Mountain National Golf Course, which features 18 challenging holes surrounded by the majestic Green Mountains. You can also play around at Killington Golf Course or take a packed picnic to Coolidge State Forest.
