Encounter rare and wonderful sea animals at Kamogawa SeaWorld. Stretching along Tohjoh Beach, the park is home to 800 species and offers an array of interactive experiences. Kiss bottlenose dolphins, mingle with friendly pelicans and watch thrilling performances by killer whales, beluga whales and sea lions.
Discover the terraced rice paddies of Oyama Senmaida. Learn how the terraces are carefully cultivated and maintained as you explore over four hectares of Japanese farming land. Once you’ve worked up an appetite, stop by Cafe En for freshly prepared organic food.
Visit Tanjo-Ji Temple, a sacred place to followers of Saint Nichiren Shonin. Built in 1275, the Buddhist temple has a fascinating history and is set amid the mountains overlooking the Pacific Ocean. Rise early to join the morning ritual, take a calligraphy class and wander amongst the ornamental garden filled with Buddhist sculptures.
Keen to relax? Spend a day swimming on Maebara Beach. Ideal for families, this stretch of coastline features beautiful white sand and calm water. Enjoy a picnic in the waterfront Shiosai Park or take a boat across to Niemon Island, just 200 metres offshore.
Getting around Kamogawa
You can fly into Haneda Airport in Tokyo. From here, drive to Kamogawa in just over an hour or take a 2.5-hour bus or train journey across Tokyo Bay. Once in Kamogawa, buses and trains are the best ways to get around.
