From a sleek design museum to a string of outdoor art installations, Holon has reimagined itself as Tel Aviv's cultural hub. The cosmopolitan neighbourhood is also near Bat Yam, a trendy dining, shopping and entertainment strip on Tel Aviv's Mediterranean Coast.
Things to do in H̱olon
The Design Museum Holon is one of Tel Aviv's top attractions. The building is a work of art, clad in a red concrete and steel facade designed by local architect Ron Arad. Inside you'll find exhibitions on fashion, textiles and architecture. You can purchase unique keepsakes at the gift store or enjoy refreshments at the on-site cafe.
Holon is also scattered with dozens of open-air sculptures designed by top Israeli artists. You'll find them in the neighbourhood's squares, parks, streets and gardens, which makes the neighbourhood feel like an enormous open-air museum.
Little ones will love the Israel Children's Museum, which is packed full of interactive exhibits. You can learn about emotions in the Magic Forest, explore growth and change in the Kingdom of Time and get up close with outer space aliens.
Want to enjoy some local beach culture? Head west to Bat Yam, Tel Aviv's signature beach neighbourhood. It sits on the sparkling Mediterranean Sea and is fringed by a golden stretch of sand. You can soak up the sun on Tayo Beach, stroll along Bat Yam Promenade and enjoy sunset cocktails at a waterfront restaurant.
Getting Around
The best way to explore Holon is on foot or by hailing a taxi. The neighbourhood is about 20 minutes from Tel Aviv when catching local buses or trains. Ben Gurion Airport is a 20-minute drive east.
