Things to do in Guarapari
Swim, sunbathe and sip cocktails on Praia do Morro. Backed by high-rise apartments, it’s the main urban beach in Guarapari and features a long strip of honey-coloured sand. Claim a sunlounger and order fresh seafood and ice-cold caipirinhas on demand. Praia do Meio is another popular beach just steps from downtown Guarapari, where you can relax under the shade of a chestnut tree and snorkel in crystalline rockpools just offshore.
Venture out of the city to discover uncrowded beaches like Praia dos Padres. Follow the trail from Praia Enseada Azul to access this picturesque bay with golden sand and aquamarine water. The horseshoe-shaped Praia de Iriri is set on a secluded cove and dotted with laid-back cafes and restaurants.
Spend the day in Paulo Cesar Vinha State Park and explore a wildlife-rich pocket of Espirito Santo. Trails wind through the park and showcase the unique coastal landscapes. You’ll see rolling dunes, marshes and floodplains. Carais Lagoon is the park’s showpiece and features red water tinted by aquatic plants.
Seafood features heavily on most menus in Guarapari. Try local specialties from Espirito Santo like “moqueca capixaba” seafood stew cooked in a rich tomato broth. If you’re hungry, order “torta capixaba” seafood pie cooked in a traditional claypot. Wash it down with a glass of fresh coconut water or a “batida” fruit juice cocktail.
