Sprawling east of New Delhi, Ghaziabad is a satellite city within the National Capital Region. It was founded in 1740 by Ghazi-ud-Din and was once a popular picnic destination for the Mughal royal family. Extending north of the Indirapuram Habitat Centre is Swarn Jyanti Park, an attractive green space with a children’s playground and a boating lake. Statues of freedom fighters dot the park, including a monument depicting Rani Lakshmi Bai on horseback. Visit in the evening to see the musical fountain in action or attend one of the cultural events that are regularly held here.
Families can cool off at the Drizzling Land Water and Amusement Park, which is home to themed swimming pools and waterslides that will appeal to all ages. You can refresh beneath Campty Falls, experience the thrill of the wave pool or enjoy a leisurely ride down the lazy river. Once you’ve built up an appetite, feast on Indian and Chinese fare at the on-site buffet restaurant.
Getting around Ghāziābād
Ghaziabad is around 30 minutes’ drive from New Delhi and 45 minutes from Indira Gandhi International Airport, which has flights to destinations across the globe. Regular trains connect to the Ghaziabad Junction and Ghaziabad North railway stations while buses also travel throughout the city. Rickshaws are available for getting around.
