The postcard-perfect beach is the main attraction in Fort-Mahon-Plage, with sunseekers flocking to bask on the sand and swim in the English Channel. Sailing, kitesurfing and sea kayaking are just some of the water sports on offer at Fort-Mahon-Plage. Head to the nautical centre to rent equipment and sign up for lessons. Sand yachting is a unique opportunity to sail along the beach in a wind-powered cart.
The well-marked Royon Trail winds along the coast, showcasing the beautiful coastline. It stretches four kilometres from Fort-Mahon-Plage to the neighbouring resort town of Quend-Plage. Authie Bay is another popular hiking destination, with trails winding through the sand dunes and along the beach.
Golf de Belle Dune is one of the most beautiful courses in France, drawing inspiration from the coastal links in Scotland and Ireland. The world-class course will challenge you with narrow fairways, blind shots and lots of elevation. After a round of golf, retreat to the clubhouse for a glass of French wine.
On Tuesday and Friday, locals descend on Fort-Mahon-Plage for the morning markets. They’re great for stocking up on fresh fruit and vegetables, bread and pastries, cheese, meat and other local produce.
Getting around Fort-Mahon-Plage
Fort-Mahon-Plage is compact and easy to get around on foot. The resort is a one-hour drive from Amiens and three hours from Paris. Trains run between Paris and Rue in two hours. From Rue, the drive to Fort-Mahon-Plage takes 15 minutes. Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport is a two-hour drive away.
