Fernando de Noronha is a beach lover’s paradise and boasts some of the most beautiful stretches of sand in Brazil. Forest-covered cliffs frame Baía do Sancho, an arc of golden sand fringed by dazzling blue water. Charter a boat and dock on the beach or tackle the steep paths and ladders that lead down to the powder-soft sand. Wild and remote, Praia do Leão is another stunning beach where you can relax on the caramel-coloured sand and swim in the turquoise water.
Walk around the grass-covered ruins of Forte dos Remédios. It overlooks Santo Antonio Bay and is one of the best-preserved Portuguese strongholds on the island. Sunsets from the clifftop fort are spectacular.

Dune buggies are a fun and affordable way to get around Fernando de Noronha. Flying is the only way to access the archipelago. Planes fly between Fernando de Noronha and cities on the Brazilian mainland, including Recife and Natal.
