Located on the banks of the Bosna River, Doboj is a bustling railway city in the north of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The area has been inhabited since Neolithic times and was settled by an Illyrian tribe as early as the 12th century BC. During the Middle Ages, a royal fortress was built in Doboj by the Kotromanić dynasty before being expanded by the Ottoman Empire.
