Costa Azul is located in the south-eastern region of Salvador. It’s a quiet residential area, offering some authentic attractions for visitors. If you’re in search of a local Salvador experience mixed with outdoor adventures, Costa Azul is the place to go.
The most noteworthy feature of the neighbourhood is the Parque Costa Azul, which offers a playground, picnic areas and sports facilities. The park is located on the banks of the Camaragibe River, extending near the Atlantic Ocean.
Costa Azul is situated at the southern tip of the Praia de Armação, a public beach that runs along much of Salvador’s east side. It’s a wide and peaceful beach full of waterfront activities, so spend an afternoon playing volleyball and beach soccer, or rent a kayak to explore the area.
Getting there
Costa Azul is at the opposite end of Salvador from the central neighbourhood Pelourinho. A bus from Pelourinho will take about 45 minutes, while driving is slightly faster. Once you’ve arrived, it’s easy to wander on foot from one attraction to the next. Alternatively, you can use taxis to get around.
