Fringed by colourful buildings and rickety wooden piers, bustling Coron Town is a great introduction to the Province of Palawan, offering access to Coron Bay and the dreamy Calamian Islands. There are aquamarine lagoons to discover, colourful dive sites to explore and golden beaches to laze around on.
Things to do in Coron
Coron Town is anchored by a lively strip where you'll find a handful of coffee shops, laid-back bars and barbecue restaurants. There are also some quaint shops selling everything from handmade clothes to local handicrafts. Aramintas is brimming with unique souvenirs, including elaborate masks made by Palawan's Indigenous groups.
Just a 20-minute boat ride from Coron Town, Coron Island is a slice of tropical paradise. A steep jungle trail leads up to crystal-clear Kayangan Lake, known for its hidden caves and underwater rock towers. With three layers of fresh, salt and brackish water, scenic Barracuda Lake is eternally popular with divers.
Incredibly photogenic, Twin Lagoon is fed by fresh water and saltwater. While boats dock in one of the lagoons, the other is accessible only by swimming through a narrow fissure in the rocks. It's worth the effort, with sparkling emerald green water and fantastic snorkelling.
For the best views in town, hike to the top of Mount Tapyas. You'll be rewarded with sweeping vistas over Coron Bay. After a sweaty hike to the summit, you can soothe your muscles at Maquinit Hot Springs. Just 10 minutes from Coron Town, they're heated by an underground volcano.
