Located on the western side of the Rhine River, Cologne Central Station is the city’s main transportation hub, providing local, national and international train services that cover the majority of Europe. It’s one of the busiest train stations in Germany and has recently undergone a modern reconstruction, giving it numerous shopping and dining outlets.
Do you have some time before or after your train journey? Check out some of the food options at the train station, such as Schweinske, which serves traditional German cuisine. You can also purchase sweet treats from HUSSEL Confiserie, pick up a quick snack from Currywurst by Tante Emma or browse the baked goods at Wiener Feinbäcker.
Those in need of some retail therapy can check out the female clothing at ORSAY, stationary and notebooks at Moleskine Store or the latest in literature and popular fiction at the Ludwig bookstore. The trains station’s central location makes it ideal for sightseeing, with the Musical Dome, Bahnhofsvorplatz and HA Schult Museum für Aktionskunst all within walking distance.
Getting there
Cologne Central Station is about 10 minutes’ walk from the centre of Cologne and directly connected to Cologne Bonn Airport by the S Bahn in about 25 minutes. Taxis regularly pick-up and drop-off travellers outside the train station.
