Citywest is a business and residential area located along the middle eastern coastline of Ireland, just north of Saggart in the County of Dublin. Citywest is one of the most important business parks in the country, recognised as a global hotspot in the leading industries of pharmaceuticals, information technology and electronics. An increasing residential population has correspondingly contributed to the development of restaurants and nightlife.
The primary tourist attractions of Citywest include the Citywest Shopping Centre, an enormous complex offering casual cuisine, high-end fashion brands, branches of medical care, and beauty and spa services. Additionally, two luxurious Citywest golf courses provide for relaxing exercise and entertainment. A variety of nearby pubs and restaurants afford ample dining and nightlife, some of the most popular spots including Lemongrass, Carpe Diem, and Michie Sushi.
Three bus routes provide public transportation around the area of Citywest. A light rail station serves as the connection between Saggart and downtown Dublin. Citywest is a 30-minute drive by car from the Dublin airport.
Citywest was initially designed as a commercial and leisure destination for the nearby capital of Dublin. Davy Holdings oversaw construction beginning in the 1990s and continuing through the late 2000s to accommodate increasing residential interest.
