From white-sand beaches to lush rainforests, Ceiba showcases the natural beauty of Puerto Rico. Relax on local beaches or use the town as a launchpad to explore the lush rainforests, cascading waterfalls and wildlife-rich mangroves that surround Ceiba.
Things to do in Ceiba
Swim and sunbathe on palm-lined Playa Los Machos. A long strip of powder-white sand wraps around the bay and contrasts beautifully against the turquoise Caribbean Sea. Pack supplies and enjoy lunch at the picnic tables and pavilions that dot the grassy foreshore.
Use Ceiba as a base to visit El Yunque National Forest. The park protects more than 10,000 hectares of rainforest-covered mountains and towering bamboo groves. Waterfalls dot the park and plunge into crystalline pools. The forest is an important habitat for endemic birds like the emerald-green Puerto Rican parrot.
Cool off in the natural pools at the foot of Las Tinajas Falls. Splash in the shallows or plunge into the deepest part of the pool on the rope swing. Charco Frio is another popular spot to swim and features a series of pools formed by the Rio Fajardo. Wear proper footwear as you’ll need to hike along rainforest-covered trails to access both Las Tinajas Falls and Charco Frio.
Ceiba is a launchpad to the twin islands of Vieques and Culebra. Nicknamed the Spanish Virgin Islands, they showcase the wild natural beauty of Puerto Rico. Vieques dazzles with shimmering black-sand beaches and a glow-in-the-dark bioluminescent cove. Visit Culebra to bask on white-sand beaches and snorkel on the coral reef.
