Wurmberg soars over Braunlage and is one of the tallest peaks in Lower Saxony. At more than 970 metres above sea level, the views from the summit are breathtaking. Drive to the summit or work up a sweat on the hiking trail.

Winter transforms Braunlage into a snow-dusted wonderland. Matthias-Schmidt-Berg is one of the top ski resorts in the region, with groomed slopes for every level. Sonnenberg features more than three kilometres of groomed trails, plus activities like sledding for kids.
Braunlage is a great base to explore the adorable alpine towns and villages that dot the Harz Mountains. Spend the day in Goslar, a medieval village laced with cobbled streets and surrounded by ancient walls. In postcard-perfect Quedlinburg, you’ll find beautifully preserved half-timbered buildings.
Getting around Braunlage
Braunlage is pedestrian-friendly and easy to get around on foot. Rental cars offer the freedom to visit the town and explore the region at your own pace. The town is in Lower Saxony, a 1.5-hour drive from Hanover and two hours from Leipzig. The closest train station is in Bad Harzburg, a 30-minute drive away. Hannover Airport is a two-hour drive away.
