Things to do in Braga
Bom Jesus do Monte is a hillside church located just outside of Braga. This ancient building is set amongst a canvas of nature and features a grand Baroque stairway that climbs 116 metres high and is one of the biggest Catholic pilgrimage sites in Portugal.
The Museum of Sacred Art provides a culturally enriching experience for all. Set in the cathedral treasury, the museum is home to great works of religious art, carvings and statues that date back to the 17th century.
In the centre of town sits Se Cathedral, a 12th-century place of worship. The building underwent multiple renovations over the centuries, reflected in the diverse architectural styles that include a unique 15th-century porch.
Getting around Braga
Oporto International Airport sits just under one hour’s drive south-west of Braga and is serviced by the metro line, taxis and buses. The public transport network continues in and around the city, but you can also explore many of the sights on foot.
