Bandar Lampung combines the buzz of a big city with the atmosphere of a tropical paradise. In the city centre, you’ll find modern malls and family-friendly entertainment complexes. Get out of the city to discover palm-fringed beaches and wildlife-rich national parks.
Things to do in Bandar Lampung
Pearl-white sand and swaying palms make Pantai Sari Ringgung one of the best beaches on Lampung Bay. Bask in the sunshine and sip fresh coconuts or charter a longtail boat to explore offshore islands. Casual seafood restaurants serve local specialties like “pindang patin” spicy fish soup and grilled snapper wrapped in banana leaves.
Get ready for incredible wild elephant encounters in Way Kambas National Park. The park protects a lush pocket of lowland rainforest and is home to critically endangered Sumatran elephants, tigers and rhinoceroses. The birdwatching is first-class, with the chance to tick species like the white-winged wood duck and cerulean kingfisher off your list.
Shop, dine and play at Mall Boemi Kedaton. With a footprint of more than 50,000 square metres, it’s one of the largest malls in Sumatra. Discover four floors of retail space and shop a huge range of local and international brands. You’ll find everything from nasi goreng to fresh-squeezed juices in the food court.
Head up to Puncak Mas for fun photo ops and fantastic city views. The hilltop park is dotted with colourful wooden huts, platforms and props where you can snap selfies. Visit at dusk to catch fiery sunsets over Lampung Bay. Food stalls will tempt you with satay skewers, “mi goreng” noodles and fresh fruit.
