Arambol is a sun-soaked beach town popular with backpackers, yogis and wellness warriors. Lush palm trees frame the gold-sand beach, where you can swim, sunbathe and sip ice-cold Kingfisher. The vibe is local and laid-back, making Arambol popular with free-spirited travellers.
Things to do in Arambol
Sunbathe, stroll and collect shells on palm-fringed Arambol Beach. Roll out your towel on the honey-coloured sand or claim a sun lounger offered by one of the colourful shacks that dot the beach. They house restaurants and bars where you can order everything from curry to cocktails. The town centre is just steps from the beach and features sandy lanes lined with cafes and souvenir shops.
Climb Arambol Mountain and enjoy sweeping views over the coast. You’ll often see paragliders launching themselves off the mountain and landing on the beach below. Sunsets are spectacular and cast a golden glow over the Arabian Sea.
Shake up beach days with trips to historic attractions like Terekhol Fort. Set on the other side of the Terekhol River, the stronghold dates to the Maratha dynasty and is reimagined as a luxury hotel. As a visitor, you’re welcome to stroll around the grounds, visit the picturesque chapel and enjoy a meal at the restaurant.
From Italian pizza and Israeli falafel to Japanese sushi and German baked goods, you’ll find cuisine from around the world in Arambol. Of course, traditional Goan dishes steal the spotlight. Try specialties like fish curry cooked in coconut milk, spicy pork vindaloo and vegetable stew made with Kashmiri chilli. Indulge in “bebinca” caramelised coconut cake for dessert.
