Aqah backs onto the Gulf of Oman, which means there's plenty of snorkelling and scuba diving on offer. The dramatic Musandam Peninsula is another popular day trip. It's known as the "Norway of the Gulf" and is famous for its emerald water and rugged fjords. If you're lucky you might spot dolphins frolicking in the Strait of Hormuz.
For a lively street scene, venture down the coast to Khor Fakkan. The bustling town is fringed by a breezy palm-lined promenade and a sandy beach. It's also home to a handful of archaeological sites, stone tombs and ancient petroglyphs.
Getting around Al Aqah
The easiest way to explore Aqah is by car. Most luxury resorts are happy to arrange day trips and hiring a private driver is a convenient way to get around. By car, Aqah is 90 minutes from Dubai International Airport.
