Backed by the Sangre de Cristo Mountains, Angel Fire is a popular ski resort in the north of New Mexico. It famously hosts the annual Music from Angel Fire, which comprises a series of classical chamber music concerts performed in venues throughout the area.
In the winter months, you can enjoy the beginner-friendly or advanced ski runs of the Angel Fire Resort while enjoying stunning views of the Rocky Mountains. Once the snow melts, you can challenge yourself on the mountain biking trails or fly between the peaks on the six-section zipline run.
Angel Fire is located along the Enchanted Circle Scenic Byway, which passes Vietnam Veterans Memorial State Park and its strikingly designed Peace and Brotherhood Chapel. Also within the grounds are a Veterans Memorial Walkway and a Huey helicopter that served during the conflict.
Getting there
Angel Fire is around two hours’ drive from Santa Fe and Santa Fe Regional Airport, which has limited flights to destinations across the United States. The larger Albuquerque International Sunport is three hours away. Renting a car is the most convenient way of getting to Angel Fire and the village is small enough to explore on foot.
