Once serving as the administrative, political and religious centre of Thassos, the Ancient Agora of Thassos lies near the centre of Limenas on the island’s north-east coast. It was initially established in the 6th century BC, although most of its ancient market ruins date from the 4th to 2nd centuries BC.

In addition to a Doric building carved with the names of Thassos’ rulers, a paved street was also added in the 1st century AD to connect the agora with the port of Limenas.

Getting there
The Ancient Agora of Thassos is located in Limenas, which is connected by regular ferries to Keramoti on the Greek mainland. Keramoti is just over an hour’s drive from Thessaloniki Airport Makedonia, which has flights to destinations across Europe.
