Things to do in Aguadilla
A long strip of gold sand dotted with palms lures sunseekers to Playa Crash Boat. It’s a great place to swim, sunbathe and enjoy a beachside picnic. Snorkel with colourful tropical fish and jump off the pier, then claim a patch of sand or rent a sun lounger and umbrella for the day. Water sports like paddleboarding, jet skiing and banana boat rides keep the whole family entertained. Food trucks and snack stands serve local favourites like beef-stuffed empanadas and “piraguas” shaved ice cups drizzled with colourful syrup.
Wild and remote, Playa Wilderness is one of the best surf beaches on the North Coast. Bring your own surfboard, snacks and drinks as there are no services on this deserted beach. You’ll pass the ruins of a historic lighthouse on your way to the windswept beach.
Admire works by established and emerging Puerto Rican artists at Museo de Arte de Aguadilla Y del Caribe. The museum is housed in a handsome historic courthouse and showcases works by icons like Hernández Cruz and Susana Herrera.
From “chinchorro” street stands to chef-driven restaurants, there are plenty of places to dine in Aguadilla. Order Puerto Rican specialties like stuffed chicken breast served with a spicy Caribbean sauce and “mofongo” mashed plantains. Enjoy a slice of “flan de queso” cheesecake topped with a rich caramel sauce for dessert.
