Have You Heard About Neuschwanstein Castle?
Neuschwanstein Castle is one of the most photographed castles in the world. The 19th-century palace is renowned for its stunning hilltop setting, Romanesque Revival architecture and fairy tale-style towers. Honestly, it looks like the princess or prince of our daydreams could be waiting for us inside.
The castle is open to the public and is as extravagant on the inside as you’d expect. There are 15 rooms and halls (small for a castle, we know, but the original plan was for 200 rooms) all elaborately furnished with priceless artwork, old-world furnishings and magnificent chandeliers. Most visitors’ heads remain on a swivel as they walk through Neuschwanstein Castle admiring the mosaic flooring, marble columns and high timber ceilings.
However, one of the best ways to admire Neuschwanstein Castle is from afar. There are multiple viewpoints, such as Queen Mary’s Bridge, surrounding the castle that let you truly take in its magnificent construction, towering perch and the surrounding natural beauty of Germany.
Although you can’t stay overnight at the castle, there are charming hotels nearby in the town it overlooks called Hohenschwangau. Schlossrestaurant Neuschwanstein is a hotel housed in an old German residence with a restaurant serving authentic German food and beer. AMERON Neuschwanstein Alpsee Resort & Spa, meanwhile, has artfully furnished rooms and an utterly luxurious spa with a pool and wellness area.
