Few places are as synonymous with paradise as Tahiti. From billowing palm trees and lush jungle foliage to colourful coral reefs and unbelievably clear water, Tahiti is a tropical playground beckoning to be explored.
Things to do in Tahiti
No trip to Tahiti is complete without spending a day at La Plage de Maui. Renowned for its dazzling white sand, La Plage de Maui’s shallow shore stretches towards the horizon, offering beachgoers tranquil water perfect for swimming. Grab a snack at the local beach bar, which serves fresh ceviche and coconut cocktails throughout the day.
Up for a physical challenge? Trek through Fautaua Valley, a dense tropical rainforest considered one of the most beautiful parts of Tahiti. Weave your way through the lush vegetation of ferns and palm trees before arriving at your final destination, the 300-metre-tall Fautaua Waterfall.
Spend a day in friendly Papeete, the capital city of Tahiti. Situated on the island’s north-west coast, Papeete offers excellent shopping and dining opportunities, as well as a vibrant nightlife. Visit the Municipal Market, where you can find fresh fish, fruit and vegetables alongside handcrafted hats, bags and unique souvenirs.
For local cuisine, look no further than Place Vaiete. Nestled along Papeete’s coastline, Place Vaiete is renowned for its assortment of roulottes, local food trucks that specialise in tasty Tahitian street food. Sample Tahiti’s national dish, Poisson Cru, a delectable selection of raw red tuna marinated with lime juice and coconut milk.
