Naxxar is a laid-back city where you can immerse yourself in the unique history, culture and flavours of Malta. Just a short drive from the bustling capital of Valletta, the compact city features a charming historic centre filled with honey-hued limestone buildings. Naxxar Church soars over the city and features a magnificent Baroque façade designed by celebrated Maltese architect, Tumas Dingli. Behind the impressive bronze door is an ornate interior decorated with paintings and sculptures.
From family-run restaurants to lively wine bars, there are plenty of places to enjoy local cuisine in Naxxar. Cafes spill onto sunny squares and serve specialties like “hobz biz-zejt” Maltese open sandwiches topped with tuna, olives, capers and tomatoes.
Visit Palazzo Parisio and discover the rich history of the city. The 18th-century mansion is set in beautiful gardens reminiscent of the Palace of Versailles in France. Join a guided tour to see the lavish interior, including the ballroom decorated with gilded mirrors and sparkling chandeliers. Enjoy high tea in the gardens or splurge at the fine-dining restaurant.
