Things to do in Maragogi
White sand and crystal-clear water make Maragogi Beach one of the best on the Costa Dorada de Alagoas. Roll out your towel on the sand or rent a sun lounger and umbrella for the day. The southern end of the beach is framed by soaring sea cliffs. At low tide the water recedes, and you can peer into natural rock pools filled with shells and sea creatures.
Rent a snorkel and swim out to the coral reefs just offshore. You’ll be amazed by the vibrant underwater ecosystem. You can also set sail on a “jangada” raft to explore deeper reefs with scuba gear or charter catamarans for deep-sea fishing adventures.
Catamarans and speedboats depart from Maragogi and take you to the famous Taocas Natural Pools. They appear in the coral reef at low tide and feature translucent water that’s perfect for swimming, snorkelling and snapping underwater photos.
Stroll along the seafront promenade and browse stalls selling handmade souvenirs, such as jewellery and homewares carved from coconut shells. Lively bars and restaurants will lure you in with irresistible happy hours, where you can enjoy zesty caipirinhas and seafood platters overflowing with shrimp, crab and calamari. Dishes like “moqueca” Brazilian fish stew cooked in coconut milk will tantalise your taste buds.
