Fringed by swaying palms and sugar-white sand, Koh Rong Island is one of Cambodia's most picturesque destinations. The tropical island is anchored by lively Koh Touch village where you'll find a string of backpacker hostels, beach bars and local restaurants.
Things to do in Koh Rong
Beach hopping is one of the best ways to enjoy Koh Rong Island. Most sunseekers make a beeline for Long Beach, as it sits on the western side of the island and is accessible by longtail boat. Coconut Beach is another favourite, backed by lush jungle and swaying coconut palms.
To explore the area’s lively nightlife, base yourself near Koh Touch village. It's the beating heart of Koh Rong's backpacker scene and is brimming with breezy guesthouses, smoothie stalls, budget-friendly restaurants and reggae bars.
Looking for an underwater journey? Koh Rong Island is surrounded by incredible dive sites, where you can descend into a wonderland of colourful coral, tropical fish and dramatic underwater rock formations. There are a handful of dive shops in town offering snorkelling trips, certification courses and a chance to spot whale sharks.
Boat trips are a great way to discover Koh Rong Island, where you can spend the day relaxing on hidden beaches and snorkelling in offshore coral reefs. Most trips include barbecue lunches, drinks and snacks. If you're craving adventure, head to High Point Rope Park’s ziplines, suspension bridges and rope walks.
Getting around Koh Rong
You can travel to Koh Rong Island by high-speed ferries and catamarans departing from Sihanoukville in around one hour. Once on the island, the best way to get around is on foot, while longtail boats are the easiest way to go beach hopping.
