Towering over Katsina City, Gobarau Minaret recalls Nigeria’s Islamic past. The minaret once topped a beautiful mosque built in the late 14th century from honey-coloured stone.

Katsina Emir Palace is another historic gem and one of the most beautiful examples of Hausa architecture in the country. It was built in the 15th century and housed Muslim kings for centuries. Exploring the residence, you can peer into royal chambers, admire colourful African artwork and view ancient relics, including swords, bronzes and musical instruments.

Located in the ancient town of Daura, Kusugu Well has been providing the local population with water since the 7th century. Legend says the water has therapeutic properties that can cure illnesses and ailments. Nearby is Emir Palace Daura, a handsome royal residence built from sun-baked clay in the 7th century.

Nigerians love football and Karkanda Stadium is a great place to experience the country’s favourite sport. The stadium is home to the Katsina United FC, which often plays home games against other teams in the Nigerian Professional Football League. Wear green and yellow, the official Katsina team colours.
