Jersey War Tunnels recalls the island’s turbulent past and charts the impact of the Nazi occupation. The museum occupies a series of subterranean tunnels dug by the German military and features interactive exhibits on the invasion, occupation and eventual liberation of the island.
Elizabeth Castle sprawls across two islets and guards the entrance to Saint Helier harbour. The stronghold has been reimagined as a local history museum where you can learn about the role the castle played in the Civil War, World War II and other key events. Climb up to the ramparts for sweeping views over the harbour and St. Aubin's Bay.
Andean bears, lowland gorillas and Madagascan tortoises are just some of the animals that call Jersey Zoo home. This conservation-focussed zoo is one of the best in Europe and is dedicated to protecting endangered species.
Getting around Jersey
Jersey is easy to get around by car or public bus, while Saint Helier is compact and pedestrian-friendly. Bikes are a fun and eco-friendly way to explore the island. Jersey Airport offers flights to the United Kingdom, France and Europe.
