Learn about the life and legacy of a famous Taiwanese artist at the Liu Hsing-chin Comic Museum. The museum is housed in a historic railway building and showcases colourful drawings, sketches and comic strips by Liu Hsing-chin, who’s celebrated as the “King of Comics” in Taiwan. You’ll see plenty of references to beloved characters like Ah-San, Big Auntie, Whiz Kid and Robot.
Take your time strolling along Neiwan Old Street, a lively thoroughfare lined with traditional shopfronts. Shop for colourful hand-painted souvenirs and enjoy lunch at a noodle house. Street food stands will tempt you with “gua bao” steamed buns stuffed with pork and fresh coriander and “ji pai” fried chicken cutlets.
Celebrate love at Heshin Train Station Touristic Park. Founded by a local couple, the former train station is reimagined as a love-themed park. Stroll along flower-lined paths and take photos with larger-than-life sculptures and art installations. The café serves delicious coffee and cake.
Cool off in the emerald-green pool at the foot of Fengxiang Falls. The falls cascade down a rocky ledge surrounded by lush ferns and greenery. Short trails wind through the surrounding forest and offer a chance to spot birds, butterflies and other wildlife.
Getting around Hengshan Township
Hengshan Township is a 45-minute drive from Taoyuan City and one hour from Taipei City. Hengshan Station connects the township with both cities. Rental cars offer the freedom to explore Hengshan Township at your own pace. Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport is a one-hour drive away.
