Things to do in HafenCity
Enjoy a show at the state-of-the-art Elbphilharmonie. The ultra-modern concert hall sits on the foundations of a historic red-brick warehouse and features a shimmering glass façade. From symphony orchestra recitals to jazz concerts and DJ sets, the venue hosts a diverse musical program. Head up to the 37-metre-high Plaza for panoramic views over the harbour and Hamburg’s city centre.
Stroll around Speicherstadt, an atmospheric district dominated by historic red-brick warehouses. Most were built in the 19th century and feature handsome Neo-Gothic facades. The neighbourhood is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and offers a fascinating glimpse of the city’s maritime heritage. Many of the warehouses are reimagined as attractions and museums. Check out the Guinness World Record-holding model railway at Miniatur Wunderland and admire a gleaming collection of vintage cars at Automuseum Prototyp.

Getting around HafenCity
HafenCity is pedestrian-friendly and easy to get around on foot. The district is a 10-minute drive from Hamburg’s city centre or 30 minutes by foot. HafenCity is serviced by several Hamburg U-Bahn stations, including Überseequartier, Baumwall (Elbphilharmonie) and HafenCity Universität. S-Bahn Hamburg trains call at Elbbrücken Station on the eastern side of HafenCity. Hamburg Airport is a 30-minute drive away.
