About Geiranger Fjord

Surrounded by snow-capped peaks, soaring cliffs and tumbling waterfalls, Geirangerfjord is one of the most picturesque fjords in Scandinavia. The UNESCO-protected inlet stretches for 15 kilometres and features cobalt-blue water and emerald vegetation.

Riding the ferry from Geiranger to Hellesylt is a quintessential Norwegian experience and showcases stunning views of the glacier-carved fjord. For a hands-on adventure, rent a kayak and paddle across the fjord. You can also rent a car and drive the Trollstigen mountain road, a National Tourist Route that snakes through fjords and features hairpin bends. Sightseeing buses also run from Geiranger to Andalsnes, a gorgeous stretch of road known as the Golden Route.

Geirangerfjord is in the Sunnmore region of Norway, a six-hour drive from Oslo and Bergen. Car ferries run between Geiranger and Hellysylt, while buses run from Geiranger to Eidsdal in 30 minutes. From Eidsdal, ferries run to Alesund in two hours.
