Comprised of 11 long and narrow lakes, Finger Lakes is a picturesque region in New York sitting just below Ontario near the United States-Canada border. Along with its glacial lakes, Finger Lakes is renowned for being the largest wine production area in New York, home to more than 100 wineries and vineyards.
Tick off some of the iconic lakes within Finger Lakes, such as the 188-metre-deep Seneca Lake, which extends for more than 60 kilometres. Summer is the ideal time for boating, fishing, kayaking, water skiing and stand-up paddleboarding, while hot-air ballooning offers a beautiful bird’s-eye view of the lakes.
Experience the area’s wine culture at prestigious wineries along the Canandaigua, Keuka Lake and Seneca Lake wine trails, or sample unique beers and spirits at nearby microbreweries and distilleries. The region is dotted with fascinating museums, such as the Finger Lakes Boating Museum, which showcases information on ice fishing and boat building.
