Denizli Province cradles the milky-white terraces of Pamukkale, one of Turkey's most photographed attractions. In addition to exploring the enchanting "Cotton Castle", you can discover the ancient city of Hierapolis and hike through Honaz Mountain National Park.
Things to do in Denizli Province
Don’t miss the hot springs of Pamukkale, also known as the "Cotton Castle". The shimmering white calcite travertines cascade down a mountain and are brimming with sky-blue water. Wander around the sparkling terrace pools and slather yourself in the mineral-rich mud.
Discover Turkey's ancient past in Hierapolis, a Byzantine spa city founded by the Phrygians in the 2nd century. You can also visit the Hierapolis Archaeology Museum, which showcases a host of treasures, including a sarcophagi and stone sphinx.
Laodicea is a Hellenistic city built on the banks of the Lycus River. Stroll around the ruins and explore the columned temple, tiered theatre and bath complex that was mentioned in the Book of Revelation. On a clear day, you can enjoy stunning views of the Pamukkale travertines.
Stretch your legs in Honaz Mountain National Park, which is laced with scenic hiking trails, including a trail to the 2,500-metre-tall summit of Honaz Mountain. Along the way you'll pass through lush pine forests and flower-strewn fields. The park is also home to the antique city of Colossae, where you can view rock tombs dating back to the Phrygian civilisation.
