Costa de la Luz is one of Spain’s most alluring stretches of Andalusian coastline, beginning in Tarifa and finishing at the mouth of the Guadiana River. Cities dot the shoreline, such as Ayamonte, Punta Umbria, El Puerto Santa Maria and El Portil, each one encompassing a European beach holiday vibe with soft sand, oceanfront bars and local eateries.
The beaches will always be Costa de la Luz’s biggest draw, but don’t forget to partake in other activities, such as kitesurfing, boating, water skiing and golfing. If you love pristine nature, visit the surrounding nature reserves, such as Doñana National Park, which features the endangered Iberian lynx, rare Spanish imperial eagle and Egyptian mongooses.
Want to try authentic Spanish food? Head to Cadiz where you can dine on fresh seafood near Mota Castle at El Faro. Alternatively, book a table at Ventorillo del Chato, a historic 18th-century restaurant said to have introduced tapas to Spain.
