About Bimini

Famous for its big-game fishing scene and kilometres of pristine shoreline, the district of Bimini is a tropical paradise in the Bahamas. Bimini consists of two main islands, North Bimini and South Bimini, both of which are home to soft sand beaches and swaying palm trees.

Things to do in Bimini

Most of Bimini’s best beaches sit off the Queens Highway, but Blister Bay is a tranquil beach set just behind the King’s Road. Spend a day lounging on the soft white sands and swimming in the turquoise waters, before retiring to one of the beach bars that serve fresh seafood.

The district is famous for its deep-sea fishing, but also for its fantastic scuba diving locations. Head out on a diving excursion to the nearby Sapona, a sunken concrete-hulled cargo steamer that’s considered an iconic landmark of Bimini. Spend the morning diving amidst the wreckage and observe the colourful underwater marine life.

Back on dry land, head to the Martin Luther King Jr Memorial. A bronze bust of the inspirational man can be found at the Bimini Craft Centre in Alice Town and honours his legacy ever since he visited the island in 1968.

Outdoor lovers and nature lovers alike will delight at the Bimini Nature Trail. Head out early on this walking trail to explore the endemic plants and animals native to the district. Take a guided tour for a more in-depth exploration of the local flora and fauna and to learn about the native endangered snakes.

Getting there

Bimini is serviced by South Bimini Airport, which is located just 15 minutes from the district’s centre. The islands can be explored on foot or on a boat tour, and you can make use of local bicycle hire and golf carts.
