Located just a stone’s throw from Budva’s medieval walled town, Bečići is an upmarket coastal resort in Montenegro. In 1935, it was awarded the “Grand Prix” in Paris as the most beautiful beach in Europe, with an almost two-kilometre-long stretch of sand. In addition to being a popular setting for sunbathing and swimming, it offers perfect conditions for paragliding.
Things to do in Bečići
Kick back on the inviting sands of Bečići Beach and swim in the crystal clear waters of the Adriatic Sea. A set of stone stairs lead from the beach to the Serbian Orthodox Church of St. Tome, which is fronted by a peaceful square offering sweeping views across the coastline. Backing the beach are several eateries where you can dine throughout the day, including the Dolce Vita Beach Bar and the Papillon restaurant.
Bečići makes an ideal base for exploring the medieval streets of Budva, which are surrounded by stone walls built by the Venetians. Visit the centuries-old Citadel and admire the Church of Santa Maria, which is believed to have been established as a cloister by the Benedictines in 840 AD. Also of note is the Church of Saint Ivan, an ancient basilica that is particularly spectacular at night when its bell tower is illuminated.
When it comes to adrenaline-filled activities, Bečići is famed for paragliding, with several operators in and around the town. After being launched off the nearby mountains, you’ll be treated to a bird’s eye view of the Montenegrin coastline, with a few acrobatics thrown in.
