We got a deluxe room for this hotel. This hotel is more of a hostel hotel with common bathrooms but you can pay more to upgrade your room with it's own private bathroom which is what we did. The hotel had beautiful old school character on the outside and the inside was modernized. The hotel is literally a 60 second walk from the Powell BART transit station. We took a 30 minute train right up to the hotel essentially. Lots of transit right by the door and we could get anywhere in the city or even in the bay area if we wanted to. We could've taken a train to Berkley or even Oakland. The room was great for two people. It had a nice flat screen with cable, free wifi and 2 robes, an iron and table. It was just the basics in this room. One thing I wish the hotel did was replace its windows with a much more insulating glass to keep sound out.Although I'm a heavy sleeper, the glass was so thin that even though we were on the second highest floor of the building I could hear cars, sirens, conversations at street level and it was like I left the window open at night. The bathroom although modern and nice the water pressure was not the best and it took some time to have the hot water kick in. In addition the little bathroom window in the shower although had a locking mechanism it did not lock. There was another window immediately beside the window and although difficult I could have opened the neighbours window. I wish the locking mechanism was in proper functioning order.
