Nicknamed the “City of Trees” due to its leafy streets, Tustin lies south-east of Los Angeles in Orange County. It was originally inhabited by the Tongva and Luiseño people before the arrival of the Spanish in 1769. Despite its thriving population, Tustin retains a small-town feel, with many historic buildings clustered in its city centre.
Things to do in Tustin
Spend an afternoon relaxing in Citrus Ranch Park, which was created to preserve a lemon grove that is planted with around 1,000 trees. It encompasses a children’s playground, scenic walking trails and several barbecue areas, as well as a hilltop gazebo that offers magnificent views across Tustin. Citrus Ranch Park connects to the Ted Robinson-designed course of the Tustin Ranch Golf Club.
Car enthusiasts shouldn’t miss a visit to the Marconi Automotive Museum where you can get up close to more than 100 rare and luxury vehicles. In addition to Lamborghinis and Ferraris, there are racing cars, motorcycles and muscle cars that were gifted by philanthropists Dick and John Marconi. A highlight of the collection is the Batmobile that featured in the 1992 movie “Batman Returns”.
At the Tustin Area Museum, you can learn about the people and events that have shaped the city’s past. Its collection includes vintage agricultural equipment, old photographs and exhibits detailing the area’s Native American peoples. The museum is a short stroll from Jamestown Village and features a gift store, a garden centre and an antique parlour.
