Shoshone Point is one of the best places to take in views of the Colorado River as it snakes through the canyon.

For some of the best views in the region, head up to the Desert View Watchtower, a 20-metre-high stone monolith built in 1932. A winding staircase leads up to the lookout platform where you can admire sweeping views over the Colorado River, Navajo Reservation and San Francisco Peaks.

Over the years the Grand Canyon has inspired countless artists, including the Kolb brothers. In 1905 they founded Kolb Studio, a small photography workshop, which has since been converted into a museum.
