Originally settled in the early 19th century, Humble lies just north of Houston. After the discovery of oil in 1904, the town became the largest producing oilfield in Texas and was the headquarters of what would become Exxon. Today, Humble lies between the recreational waters of Lake Houston and the runways of George Bush Intercontinental Airport.
