Things to do in Dalhousie
A scenic 1.5-kilometre trail winds up to Jai Pohlani Mata Temple, which commands sweeping views over the Pir Panjal range. Stop for refreshments at the teahouse before continuing to Jot Pass, considered one of the world's most scenic picnic spots.
Set on a grassy meadow ringed by pine and cedar trees, Khajjiar lives up to its reputation as a mini Switzerland. Scenic horse riding tours are a fantastic way to enjoy the picturesque region. You can also visit Kalatop Khajjiar Sanctuary to spot leopards, bears and Himalayan black martens.
Stretch your legs on the trail to Satdhara Falls. The waterfalls are fed by seven mountain springs known for their therapeutic properties. The waterfalls plunge into a crystal-clear pool, which is a great place to cool off after a hike.
Chamera Lake snakes its way through the valley and is surrounded by rugged mountains. Pack your own lunch and enjoy a scenic picnic by the lake or stock up on supplies from one of the local food stalls. You can also rent a boat and enjoy a self-guided paddling tour.
Getting around Dalhousie
Dalhousie is easy to get around on foot, while local buses run to nearby towns and villages. The town is also serviced by local auto and cycle rickshaws. Pathankot is the closest airport, 75 kilometres from Dalhousie. Long-distance buses run to nearby cities.
