Things to do in Coral Springs
Learn about native flora and fauna at the Sawgrass Nature Centre. See a variety of animals in the outdoor enclosures, including alligators, turtles, snakes, hawks, eagles and owls. In addition to year-round residents, the non-profit sanctuary runs a wildlife hospital that treats and rehabilitates native animals.
Discover the pristine Everglades ecosystem on the Conservation Levee Greenway. The trail winds through lush wetlands and is best explored on foot or by bicycle. Look for alligators basking in the marshes and spoonbills wading in the shallows as you explore the trail.
Skate in the tracks of NHL pros at the Florida Panthers IceDen. The enormous facility is the official practice space for the Florida Panthers. Catch the team in action or hit the ice in a public skating session, then stop by the pro shop to stock up on Panthers merchandise.
Spend the day on Pompano Beach, a long stretch of gold sand framed by high-rises. Bask in the sunshine, swim in the Atlantic Ocean and walk to the end of the landmark Pompano Beach Pier. Snorkel at the offshore coral reef and chat to local scuba schools about trips to local wrecks and dive sites. The Hillsboro Lighthouse has been guarding the entrance to the inlet since 1907. Climb the spiral staircase to the lookout tower for sweeping views over the Atlantic Ocean.
