Celebration is a district and community of Kissimmee, Orlando, Florida. Located close to Walt Disney World Resort, the contemporary town centre was developed by the Walt Disney Company. Celebration is linked to the major theme parks via World Drive which runs for over 12 kilometres to Magic Kingdom. The town centre is home to unique shopping, farmer’s markets, golf courses, and international dining. Its proximity, close to all the action of downtown Orlando and International Drive makes Celebration a popular vacation area.
Celebration offers visitors a multitude of attractions and activities on their doorstep. Enjoy a game of golf on a world-class golf course or be pampered at the local spa. The district has a variety of shopping facilities and produce markets on offer. Although, if upscale shopping malls and outlets are more appealing they are just a few minutes’ drive. The main thoroughfares in the town are Celebration Avenue and Boulevard, the shops, galleries, commercial premises and golf courses are located around here. Dining is an international affair, as visitors can choose from laid-back taverns, trendy cafes, bakeries or Mediterranean and Mexican cuisine. Nearby, explore ESPN Wide World of Sports, a huge athletics complex with innovation labs, gift shops and sports grills. Everything sports-related can be found here from softball and baseball, to track and field circuits and tennis courts. For a relaxing day, take a picnic to Lake Rianhard at Celebration Lakeside Park. Its tranquil location and the picturesque vistas are worlds away from the hustle and bustle of downtown and International Drive. Those wishing to explore the Walt Disney World theme parks can do so via World Drive where Epcot, Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Magic Kingdom lie.
Exploring Orlando by car is preferable, but for visitors staying in Celebration, it’s not a necessity. The town centre is easy to explore, and golf courses, lake, shops and restaurants can be reached easily on foot or by bicycle. LYNX bus services run via Celebration to a variety of theme parks and attractions. Alternatively, shuttle bus shares, Uber and taxis are available.
Celebration was a community constructed in the early 1990’s. The residences and buildings in the area are all low density and based on early 20th century architectural styles. It was planned to be a town worthy of Walt Disney’s Epcot “community of tomorrow”. Today, visitors to Orlando choose Celebration due to its central location, and its town centre which is easy to walk to in the evenings.
