We were taken to a room which had horrible stains on the ceiling and carpet; a broken bedlamp; mould everywhere in the main room and bathroom, and the overpowering stench of stale cigarette smoke - including in the pillows and bedding. The outside balcony was littered with cigarette butts. The room had a broken phone and no hotel or external directory. A sign above the fridge proclaimed that the Westin Hotel group prides itself on providing a smoke-free environment. The prospect of seven days in this room was ghastly. I finally found a working phone and asked to speak to the duty manager. His message said that "Brett was otherwise occupied and may get back to you", he never did. However a pleasant woman from the housekeeping section came, looked at the room and moved us to another room. The rooms we had booked for our adult sons were OK but one had a strong smell of cigarettes however we couldn't face going through the process again. We had paid high season rates for all three rooms. In all our holidays over the years in Fiji, the Westin ranks as the worst. My son was woken at 0630 hours on the day of our departure to be reminded that checkout was 1100. Pretty sad effort. The Fijian staff are likable and pleasant but the Westin resort obviously lack good managers.

I stayed at the hotel in January and my cousins, my 2 girls and I had a great time. From the Restaurants, Breakfast brunch, rooms, customer service, shuttle services-everything was awesome. I will love to stay there again. Nice pools and spa as well. They have a kids activities center and my little one enjoyed it a lot. I would greatly recommend anyone to stay there.

Clean, extra friendly staff, beautiful scenery, kid friendly, awesome pool, but not so great restaurants. I wouldn't rate the restaurants 5 stars. I would definitely stay at the hotel again but would not eat anything there.

Having recently returned from a stay at the Westin in Fiji, we were disappointed with the standard of room. Having stayed at Westin hotel's before, we were expecting a certain standard that was not met at the Westin Fiji. The rooms were still very tired with the only concession we could find to the Westin standards being the heavenly bed, the flat screen tv and the heavenly shower head (double shower head fitted over the old bath) It did not appear that the bathrooms had been upgraded at all with chipped tiles and the old over the bath shower. The air conditioning unit was also very noisy but obviously necessary to use with the heat. The rooms were still rather dark. With upgraded bathrooms and the room being lightened up, it would improve the rooms immensely. As we had our 10 month old son with us, it was difficult to get out in the evenings. So we were reliant on a limited room service menu. My husband did go to the pasta kitchen a couple of nights to get us salad and tapas, but this was a difficult experience with them not being accomodating to "take away" meals!!On a positive note, the heavenly bed is "heavenly" and HUGE!! The surrounds were beautiful and the front pool was lovely as was the new lap pool set over by a very comprehensive gym. Definitely the best gym I have ever used in a hotel. There was plenty of space around the starwood properties for you to get a good variety of experiences with the pools and if you wanted adult only time, no children were allowed in the lap pool.As another tip, if you can possibly afford it, have some extra room if you are taking a child or children.

Would stay at The Westin Denaraua Island again. The most Fijian in look and feel of all the resorts on Denarau Island. The staff are friendly, the rooms are elegant and large and the grounds are beautiful. The pool area is stunning. The gym, the lap pool and the day spa are great. Breakfast was included and caters to every taste. Would stay here if you aren't travelling with children as some other resorts were quite noisy (Westin very child-friendly but not so noisy).
