The service was very nice--always friendly, helpful, appropriately solicitous of the guests. The room was clean and comfortable, The bathroom was nice, and the hvac controls and environment was quite comfortable. The beds were mostly comfortable, but the sofa bed would have been very uncomfortable for the adults. It was ok for a child, but I had concerns about the sharp corners and metal handle that a 6 year old might bump into...so the 2nd night I just made her a pallet on the couch without using the sofa bed. Walking distance to cafes, breakfast-all-day places, fast and 'slow' food, and a fresh fruit/veggie/bread market. We even found our bank just around the corner when we needed it. We were there on a weekend, so there didn't seem to be subway service closer than 9 blocks though ( I guess the 51st St stop was only included on weekdays--that would have been perfect). I would definitely go there again. The lobby and exterior had some classic, well-aged ambiance/architecture.
